PS3 titles have been leading Electronic Arts’ software sales by a considerable amount throughout 2008, earning EA more money than software on any other platform.
Between April and June 2008, PS3 sales were 969% greater than during the same period last year. PS3 games grossed a total of $139 million (USD) during the most recent quarter, while Xbox 360 titles earned only $81 million. Perhaps now the company’s recent push to bring PS3 titles up to the same standard as their 360 counterparts can be explained.
With Madden 09 releasing during the next financial quarter, EA’s 360 software sales may amend themselves somewhat. Still, these figures go to show that PS3 is a platform that can provide a hefty financial reward for any Xbox 360 studio debating heading multiplatform. [PSU]
